I'm Nich Krause, lecturer of English at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. I teach courses in English composition, literature, and film. My research primarily focuses on the ways that bodies are represented in cinema and pop culture. I am particularly interested in the representations of fat bodies in American film, and the ethical and social implications of these representations.
In addition to my Ph.D. in English from Middle Tennessee University, I received my BA and MA in Philosophy from Colorado State University. Philosophy threads throughout everything I research and write. My philosophy background is primarily in American Pragmatism and eudaimonistic traditions.Â
My work has been published in Screen Bodies: The Journal of Embodiment, Media Arts, and Technology, Excessive Bodies: A Journal of Artistic and Critical Fat Praxis and Worldmaking, and Alphaville: Journal of Film and Screen Media, among other venues.
If I'm not reading, writing, or teaching, you can find me baking sourdough and watching movies with my partner, Caroline. You will also find me rambling about how mind-boggingly amazing dinosaurs and space are.
